The French soprano Valérie Suty initially completed studies in musicology at the University of Paris before going to Berlin to continue her vocal studies with Marianne Fischer Kupfer (Comic Opera) and chamber singer Uta Priew (Staatsoper).

She soon made her debut as a concert singer in the Chamber Music Hall of Berlin’s Philharmonie in Samuel Barber’s Dover Beach, and subsequently sang the role of Smeraldine in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges at the Comic Opera Berlin. Many engagements followed in Germany, France, and Belgium before she switched to the character category of youthful-dramatic soprano. Since then, the dramatic soprano Evelyn Herlitzius has been her teacher.

Valérie Suty was engaged to sing Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the National Theater in Zagreb, Croatia. In Chemnitz and Bremerhaven she was heard as Giulietta in Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann. At Brasil’s Gran teatro Castel Alvez, she gave her debut in the role of Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.

In February 2007, she sang for the first time the title role in Richard Strauss’ Salome to great acclaim at the Stadttheater Giessen. In the coming season, she is to sing this role as well as that of Santuzza in Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana at the Dortmund Opera.

Contemporary music as well as chamber music occupy an important place in Valérie Suty’s repertoire. At the 2002 Chemnitz Cultural Festival “Begegnungen” (“Encounters”) she performed György Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments with violinist Hartmut Schill. She has frequently performed together with the concert pianist Vladimir Stoupel. One of their recitals – with songs by Debussy, Duparc, and Fauré – was recorded and broadcast by the Middle German Radio (MDR).
