After her diploma at her hometown Conservatoire in Cagliari, Silvia Careddu continued her studies in Paris, where she obtained the Premier Prix à l’unanimité avec les felicitations du Jury at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique. Alongside her studies, Silvia has participated at Aurèle Nicolet’s masterclasses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and followed classes with Emmanuel Pahud, Michel Debost and Jacques Zoon. She has won prizes at several national and international music competitions, including the Syrinx International Flute Competition in Rome, the „Jeunes Talents“prize in Paris, the Prix de l’Académie de Villecroze, and, unanimously, the prestigious Grand Prix and Public Prize of the 56th Geneva International Music Competition. Since 2004 Silvia is principal flute player of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, since 2012 she holds the same position at the Kammerakademie Potsdam. Regularly she is invited as principal flute player by important international orchestras. She gives masterclasses at the Spivakov-Acadademy in Colmar as well as at the academies in Odesan, Sorak and Seoul (Korea), in Salceda (Spain) and at Les Arcs (France). She teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and at the Conservatorio de Musica (postgraduate classes) in Badajoz, Spain.
