Hans-Jakob Eschenburg studied at Berlin’s Academy of Music Hanns Eisler under Prof. Josef Schwab. He is solo cellist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the C. P. E. Bach Chamber Orchestra. He was one of the founders of the Petersen Quartet, of with which he was a member until 2000, and with which he participated in numerous, frequently prize-winning CD productions. With the Petersen Quartet and chamber music partners such as Norbert Brainin, Martin Lovett, Christoph Poppen, Hariolf Schlichtig, Steven Bishop-Kovacevich, Michael Sanderling, Tabea Zimmermann, Marie-Luise Neunecker, Thomas Brandis, Hannes Läubin, Wolfgang Boettcher, Wolfgang Emmanuel Schmidt, Henrik Wiese, and Walter Forchert, he has appeared at the world’s most important concert venues and most famous festivals. Hans-Jakob Eschenburg holds a honorary professorship at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin, and has additionally taught courses in Europe, the USA, and Latin America, including in Kuhmo (Finland), Seon (Korea), Eugene (USA, Oregon Bach Festival), Riga (Latvia, Academy of Music), Stuttgart (Music Festival), and Venezuela (Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra).
