The Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra was formed at the initiative of Jerzy Semkow. It is made up of the most talented conservatory graduates and students under 30 years of age. Sinfonia Iuventus began its artistic activity in 2008. The orchestra has recorded many albums and made radio and TV recordings for leading recording companies. A special place in the discography of the orchestra is occupied by two albums with symphonic repertoire (Schubert, Tchaikovsky) recorded under the baton of Jerzy Semkow. Cooperation with Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki has resulted in the release of many of his works, including a complete set of symphonies (2012) and an album with concertos. These recordings were recognized with prizes at the International Classical Music Awards in 2014 and 2016. The ensemble’s output additionally includes recordings with conductors and soloists such as Gabriel Chmura (Strauss, Françaix, Debussy, Weinberg, and Prokofiev), Tadeusz Wojciechowski (Chopin), Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski (Chopin), Mariusz Patyra (Wieniawski), Ivan Monighetti (Haydn), Agata Szymczewska (Bruch, Wieniawski, and Mendelssohn), George Tchitchinadze and Monika Wolińska (Bacewicz), and Łukasz Borowicz (Paderewski, Stojowski). The orchestra has performed on many concert stages and at many festivals in Poland and throughout Europe, as well as in China. Since April 2009 the orchestra has been a member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO). In November 2013, Krzysztof Penderecki assumed the honorary artistic patronage of the orchestra. In September 2015, the Artistic Council of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra was established, comprising: Prof. Tomasz Miczka (chairman), Jacek Kaspszyk, Michail Jurowski, Łukasz Borowicz, and Przemysław Fiugajski. Michail Jurowski is Principal Guest Conductor of the Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra. The Director General of the orchestra is Anna Kościelna, who was appointed to the position by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Photo: (c) Wiktor Zdrojewski
