Holger Groschopp was born in Berlin and studied at the Hochschule der Künste in his hometown with Georg Sava. He also studied composition with Isang Yun and Lied interpretation with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His extensive concert career has taken him to most European countries, the Middle and Far East as well as North and Latin America. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at important festivals (Berliner Festwochen, Salzburg Easter Festival, Cantiere internazionale d'arte Montepulciano, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Musikfest Berlin, etc.) and has taken part in many premieres and first performances (including Henze, Reimann, Yun, Rihm). He has long been closely associated with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra as an ensemble pianist, soloist and chamber musician. His nine CDs with transcriptions and original works by Ferruccio Busoni (Capriccio) have been highly acclaimed by international critics. Also available are recordings of works by Isang Yun, John Adams, Ursula Mamlok, Walter Braunfels and others. Cybele released all of Isang Yun's works for cello and piano (solos and duos) with Adele Bitter in 2019. Their complete recording of the piano and cello works by Simon Laks (Cybele) was awarded an OPUS KLASSIK in 2023. In the same year, EDA records released his recording of concertante works by Simon Laks and Marcel Mihalovici (EDA 48 Écoles de Paris). Photo: (c) David Adorjn
