Andreas Kersten was born in Berlin, where he received his first piano lessons. From 1981 to 1986 he studied piano and accompaniment of at the State University for Music and Dramatic Arts, Stuttgart, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1987. Kersten has had a long and successful career both in Germany and abroad as an accompanist for chamber music and song recitals. In addition to his work with prominent soloists, he is active as an accompanist with the Stuttgarter Philharmonic, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and the Southwest German Radio.
